Kalaupapa Experience

Molokai Activities - Visiting Kalaupapa is sure to be one of the most memorable moments of your vacation to Hawaii. On May 10, 1873, Father Damien arrived on the isolated peninsula of Kalaupapa and changed the lives of many lepers who had been separated from their loved ones. Father Damien restored the existing church, restored patient's homes, and developed working farms. The setting for the leper colony of Kalaupapa is both tragic and serene. The breath-taking peninsula is surrounded by the 2,000 foot sea cliffs which are the highest sea cliffs in the world. This tour takes you to the isolated peninsula that was home to Hawaii's leper colony on the island of Molokai; the home of Father Damien and Mother Marianne Cope. You will fly to Kalaupapa and meet with a Damien Tour guide who will then take you on a comprehensive tour of the grounds. You will see the church Father Damien built as well as enjoy a picnic at the east end of Kalawao. Pickup in Waikiki is approximately 7:00 a.m. and the return time is approximately 4:00 p.m.

Cancellations must be made by calling our concierge lines at 808-214-9283. We will not accept cancellations via email, voicemail, fax or chatline. You must call at least 48 hours before the event for credit or refund to be applied. Some activities require a longer notice or will not allow cancellations once booking is made (each tour description will show exceptions to the 48 hour rule if applicable). Activities are 100% refunded in the event of your tour being canceled by the Activity Provider for any reason, such as weather, mechanical, etc. Ohana Fun! Hawaii will make every effort to get approval from an activity provider but cannot guarantee a refund until such approval is granted.
