    Maui Combo-Bottom-Sports Fishing

    MAUI Activities - Strike Zone, a 43' Delta, offers this exclusive 6 hour morning Hawaii bottom/sports fishing combination from Maalaea Harbor, a very convenient location for those staying in South and Central Maui.


    A typical morning Maui bottom fishing trip aboard Strike Zone departs promptly at 6:30am from Maalaea Harbor, Maui, Slip #64. We return at 12:30pm. It typically takes about an hour to reach some of the most productive spots; different locations are chosen  on any given trip, and are determined by what's been biting recently, as well as current weather conditions.

    Frequently caught species of fish include many varieties of snappers, trevallys, wrasses, as well as sea bass and the occassional shark. Bottomfishing anglers are invited to keep their catch. We'll even give you a few tips on how best to prepare it!

    On the way to and from your bottom fishing destinations, you will often get to high-speed troll for big game to make the most of you running time. By doing this, you'll  have a chance of hooking up to any or all of the classic big game trophy fish such as marlin, yellowfin and skipjack tuna, mahi mahi, and ono. Any bottomfishing anglers who are into experiencing the thrill of big game fishing and the reward of mounting their catch are encouraged to participate at no additional cost.

    Morning Bottom/sports Fishing charters take a maximum of 16 bottom fishing (each with own rod and reel) and 6 riders.  Lunch and beverages are included.

    EQUIPMENT/ TACKLE USED: Strike Zone is equipped with a state of the art electronic depth recorder, and a GPS Nav/Plotter. Fishing tackle onboard includes 20#, 50#, 80# and 130# test with Penn International reels. The vessel is equipped with outriggers and a 130 Pompanette 130 Tournament Series fighting chair.

    FISHING STYLES:  High speed troll using artificial lures. They can also utilize deabait, stripbait, or live bait when available. While trolling, the captain and crew search for signs of fish. These signs could include flocks of seabirds feeding on schooling bait, and drifting flotsam which can attract trophy fish.

    ABOUT THE VESSEL: Strike Zone, is a U.S. Coast Guard certified, 43' Delta licensed to carry up to 38 passengers. The vessel features full walk around decks… so you can fish all around.

    Equipment includes:
        * Fighting chair… a Pompanette 130 tournament series
        * Brand new Garmin GPS
        * Brand new Furuno colored depth recorder/fish finder
        * Outriggers

    Fishing tackle:
        * Penn International Gold rods & reels… 50’s, 80’s and 130’s      
        * Bottom fishing tackle
        * 7’ ugly stick rods.
